Financing of ideas from public administrations: think tanks, transparency and evaluation

  • Jaime González-Capitel Martorell Georgetown University

Abstract

What can Public Administrations do to take advantage of the intellectual and political capital deployed by think tanks in Spain? Is such a proposal compatible with the democratic principles of plurality, accountability and transparency? These are the questions that guide the present article, born from the need to synthesize the researches that the author has carried out in recent years in two different contexts: the United States, the original cradle of the term think tank, and the Kingdom of Spain whose political tradition has not led to the consolidation of these organizations.
