Accelerated Aging of the Brazilian Population
A Comparative Analysis: New Possibilities for Methodological Integration of Innovative Technologies in an Analytical-Territorial Platform
Abstract
The availability of Spatial Statistics analytical techniques in combination with predictive models based on artificial intelligence, Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) have transformed scientific investigations and opened up possibilities for predicting scientific and social phenomena observed over the territory. This chapter discusses the convenience and urgency of potential studies of integration (especially for the elderly population), to offer scientific observations even more scope of meaning. The discussion is about the accelerated population aging process experienced by Brazil, compared to the slower and more natural course of population aging that occurred in old world countries, which did not go through growth cycles as intense as those that caused the Brazilian demographic boom in the 20th century. This is a good example of the complexity that the analysis promised by these contemporary techniques can face and provide new analytical clues and insights.
